Foodsage——Redefining Food Consumption with Innovative Waste Reduction

專案內容簡介

The primary source of food waste in that year was household waste, according to estimates from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) of $230 billion. Global food waste also has a significant negative effect on the environment. The US EPA refers to food that may be utilized in other ways as "wasted food" rather than "food waste" to indicate the value that can be obtained from it. An all-encompassing problem, global food waste originates in agricultural production and goes all the way to the landfill. Food waste is the deliberate tossing out of edible foods, mostly by customers and businesses. This typically happens in industrialized areas. Around 2.5 billion tonnes of the food produced for human use each year are lost or squandered. Given the vast number of hungry people in the globe, this statistic is even more startling. Food waste is a problem for social justice as well as being inefficient. Reducing food waste might aid in lowering global greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring food security, and promoting healthy food systems because it is a significant source of lost natural resources and greenhouse gas emissions.
