Our collaboration with the Kang Fu Development Center is scheduled from February to June 2024 and coincides with the summer semester of the “Practical Project on Social Return on Investment (SROI)” course. SROI is a comprehensive framework that measures value by considering social, environmental, and economic impact. It aims to reduce inequality and environmental degradation while increasing well-being by considering various costs and benefits. This methodology evaluates change in terms that matter to those who experience or contribute to it, and quantifies social, environmental, and economic outcomes in monetary terms to illustrate the impact of these changes (SROI Guide, p. 8). The social return on investment figures of this project should not be compared with that of a different project because the perceptions and resulting benefits to the beneficiaries of different projects will vary. Moreover, this information could be of help for project management and decision-making (SROI Guide, p. 11). Consequently, the social value of future projects could be further enhanced. As part of this cooperation, we will produce an SROI report for the Kang Fu Center to assess its social impact. Given the limited timeframe, we face the challenge of thoroughly covering all six phases of the SROI process. Nevertheless, our analysis will help the Center to recognize and understand the results of its activities. The data we will use for our report is provided by the Kang Fu Website and the Center themself. If no data source is given, the data was collected during meetings and informal conversations between the Center and our team, which was mostly the case.
